Lately I’ve been faced with the task of many home repairs. My home isn’t much more than 10 years old yet it seems to now be at an age where things need fixing. I’ve really grappled with the idea of fixing certain things myself, or hiring a pro. More often than not, the pro wins. I’m a big proponent of getting things fixed quickly and fixed correctly. I know if I delve into a diy project, it will not be quick, and the risk is high that it won’t be done to the highest standards.
You probably know where I’m going with this. There are so many freelance websites these days. You can find a freelancer for any product that can be delivered digitally. And of course there is nothing wrong with freelancing. I happen to be part of that crowd. But the problem lies with websites where people sell their services at a severely discounted price. Many of them offering services that are certainly only worth the price! And then there are others who do offer good work but don’t value their work high enough.
So what do you get when you hire a voice talent from a freelance website? Either someone who is inexperienced on whom you run a big risk of wasting your money and your time, or someone who doesn’t value the service they provide and consequently won’t value you, the customer, as they should. They’re simply trying to make a quick buck and won’t put in the needed effort to make your message shine.
If you are serious about your business and the message you want to share with the world, then you need to hire a voice talent who is serious about their business. One who has spent the necessary time and money in training and equipment to offer the best voice they can. One who values the service they provide and who will value you. It’s worth it for you and your brand.
Hire a pro, not someone who is the equivalent of a diy’er fixing a house, learning as they go and providing less than professional work.
