There seem to be endless technologies available today for voice over talent to connect with clients during a session. You’ve got Skype and Facetime, which are the most popular for talent who don’t have Source Connect or ISDN. And then of course there are cell phones and landline phones which can also work. But something I tried recently with great success was Google Voice.
With Google Voice I was able to set my microphone as the input and my headphones as the output. I was even able to dial into the conference call with the client and director listening in. I could hear the client talking to me as I recorded into my DAW and they could hear me. It was great. Everything ran smoothly. I feel like with Skype sometimes there are glitches in the audio…not sure if that’s the fault of my internet or not. Either way, I’ll be using Google Voice again in the future!
